Precision Woodworks Company Profile

After graduating high school, Steve worked for a year as a framer and contemplated specializing in framing. In 1980 he traveled to Nevada to work at another uncle’s cabinet shop. He later got married to his high school sweetheart, Kirsty, and moved back to Great Falls to specialize in cabinet making. In July of 1991 he started his own cabinet shop, renting a shop until building a 5000 square foot shop in 2002.

He now employs 4 full time cabinetmakers and he is the first to acknowledge their contribution to everything they do. “They really make it happen, and I couldn’t do it without them.” The meticulous Danny Mitchell has been with them for 22 years, our son Taylor has worked 7 years, while Bob Evans, with 15 years, is the resident expert on the CNC Router and other technologies.

The focus of the business has been on residential and small commercial jobs. One highlight in the latter area was the completion of a local on-air TV studio. The name, Precision Woodworks, conjures up an image of kitchens and bathrooms, which is mostly correct, but they also create custom entertainment centers, libraries, dens, media rooms, closets and other specialty rooms and features common in modern homes. Some of the greatest satisfaction enjoyed by this group of skilled craftsmen has come from opportunities to outfit entire houses in custom cabinetry and woodworking. Tying all the pieces together and admiring the finished result goes hand in hand.

They offer services in addition to custom woodwork, such as installation of pre-ordered cabinets, the Kraftmaid line of factory built cabinets, laminate and solid surface countertops. Their computerized CNC Router adds to their offerings by giving them the ability to reproduce and repeat almost any pattern in many different materials.

Beyond trends in woods and styles, comes Steve’s commitment to innovation, client service and quality. For example, if a client wants to use environmentally friendly materials or methods, they will do the research to make that happen.
